School Schedule, Take Two!

by Caroline on October 4, 2012

Well, it should come as no surprise that I’ve yet again revised the girls’ school schedule. We were feeling a bit rushed and under the gun while following the first one, so we’re trying something closer to a block schedule.

New Block School Schedule

School Schedule 2.0. The bright yellow and blue note when the girls are at the school computer lab.

This new school schedule allows us to spend more time on science and social studies in one sitting, which is helpful for the lapbooks that the girls are making for those subjects (more on lapbooks in the next couple of weeks). It also reduces the number of subjects we do in a day, and therefore the amount of times we have to switch gears, which I think is helpful.

Ultimately, this schedule makes the day feel more relaxed for all of us, and I personally feel less like I’m tied to the clock. This still allows us to switch activities around, if needed, and I still have enough time to assist the girls with assignments that they need more help on. Being Type A, I really need to be able to plan out how the week is going to go, and having a school schedule that gives me that structure — while still being flexible — gives me confidence.

Also, lots of thanks to Mrs. G., who suggested moving some of my own school activities outside of the school day. It helps the bulk of the day to run more smoothly.

Now, if I could only find time to schedule in the laundry!

Hooray for a schedule that actually seems to be working! If you find where the laundry should be scheduled in, please let me know! ;)

Thanks, Jennifer! I’m hopeful it will continue to work for us. Alas, nowhere for laundry in sight. ;)
